The Ya Bajos fountain is located on Calle Baja, in the eastern part of Cáñar. It is a small fountain with a rectangular floor plan, consisting of two bodies. The first one is the pillar, built with three blocks of limestone, which are polished by the erosive action of time. On this body, there is a rectilinear pediment, under a small molding, where there are three bronze pipes. Being water that comes down directly from the Sierra Nevada, it is common to find, especially in summer, people filling jugs and other water tanks.
The Music of the Mozuelas is a very old cañareta tradition that is celebrated every December 28. The young men of the town make a nocturnal round throughout the town singing to the young women. They are accompanied by guitars, bandurrias, accordion, and percussion instruments such as the anise bottle, the pestle, or the tambourine, interpreting “La Música de las Mozuelas”, a native musical form. They sing verses of all kinds, some more romantic, others funnier, some of them improvised for the occasion. The next morning the boys make another round and this time the girls join the party, which ends with a popular meal in the town square.
