Fountain of Santa Ana's Square

19th Century

It is a medium-sized drinking water fountain dating from 1883, with an octagonal floor plan, built with limestone blocks. It consists of two bodies, the lower one constitutes the pillar, in the center of which there is a square pillar with a Doric capital on which rests a small pinnacle worn by the action of erosion. Four bronze pipes come out of this pillar. The base of the pillar is surrounded by the typical Granada cobblestone.

Since the year of its construction, it has undergone some modifications in its base, as well as repairs to cracks in its structure.

As intrinsic characteristics of this resource, we would highlight the fact that it is the most important source in the town and that it has become an outstanding image of the town.

A place that used to be where women would collect water in pitchers for consumption at home or where animals stopped to quench their thirst, and is now a fountain that forms part of the landscape, where tourists can be photographed and can drink its water from the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada.
